AERIAL EXTREME GOES RED FOR HEART
Not only is February a time for Valentine’s, it is also National Heart Month and Aerial Extreme will be helping to save lives by supporting the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) Red for Heart campaign throughout the school Spring half term – starting Saturday 14th (Valentine’s Day).
Aerial Extreme is joining the government’s Change4Life campaign to encourage people to Eat Well; Move More and Live Longer. The aim is to prevent people from becoming overweight by encouraging them to eat better and move more, which is where Aerial Extreme can offer its facilities as a great active outdoor exercise.
The adventure ropes courses are holding a fun week that will promote this message, raise money for the BHF, and awareness of the importance of exercise to maintain a healthy heart.
Equipment will be provided so customers can have their own blood pressure measured, experts will work out how many calories you have burned by completing the course and visitors can take part in ‘hearty’ games with a chance to win prizes each day.
Research shows inactivity doubles the risk of developing coronary heart disease as much as smoking does. Increasing activity levels has multiple benefits that can improve your sleep habits, strengthen bones and muscles, reduce stress and ensure better independence in later life.
Government figures have revealed that two-thirds of adults in the UK are overweight or obese, and this number is set to rise. If we carry on as we are, 90 percent of today’s children could be overweight or obese by 2050. The government’s campaign is encouraging everyone to "address the rise in obesity for the sake of the future health of our children. The importance of health care practitioners to the success of Change4Life cannot be over-emphasised.”
With the average person burning over 500 calories an hour at Aerial Extreme, the courses represent a fun and effective way to keep the pounds off and maintain a healthy heart.
Jackie Skeel, Head of National Campaigns at the British Heart Foundation, said: "Thanks to Aerial Extreme going Red for Heart the money raised will help save lives and fight the UK’s biggest killer. Everyone can get involved with the campaign so please encourage your colleagues or friends to take part and help the BHF make a real difference.”
