MK Web’s Extreme Day Out!

Staff from Milton Keynes’ number one wesbite MKWeb decided to take to the skies and try out Aerial Extreme at Willen Lake. Here’s what they thought…

“We booked a particularly wet day to go, but by the time we were harnessed up and ready to swing, the rain had stopped and the nerves had kicked in! We were greeted and briefed by the very friendly staff who were really encouraging and put our minds at ease. They gave us our harnesses, helmets and instructions and we were off!

There are 3 levels to the course – the first is the junior course, but feeling brave (or stupid) my colleague and I decided to go straight to the middle course. This involves a mixture of obstacles including speedy zip wires, mid air jumps and climbing walls, which we managed to complete without any misses or falls. As the height increased the course definitely became more challenging, but we completed the third level after a few more hesitations and a bit of tree hugging! The staff are always on hand to guide you through the course, and to swoop in and save you if necessary.

The hardest obstacle in the final level was the climbing wall with nothing underneath you, apart from a sheer drop. Although you’re securely harnessed in – it’s a real test to the nerves. Then at the end of the course you have the opportunity to jump from the tower (14 metres high) to the ground. The attendant attaches you to a harness and then you literally have to jump off the edge- a little nerve wracking but a real buzz to finish the course with. I have to say it was a huge relief to hit the ground!

Being a regular gym-goer (sort of!) I didn’t expect to be too tested, but my body did suffer the next day. It requires a lot of grasping onto ropes (or hanging from ropes in my case), so your upper body gets a real workout. However it was definitely worth the pain. If you like a challenge or just fancy doing something different – give this a go!

The course is very reasonably priced with various discounts available for group parties/children, so there’s no excuse not to try it. It can last up to two hours as well, so you definitely get your moneys worth. It would make a great start to a hen or stag party or for a different corporate event. Either way, it definitely singles out the weak from the strong!”

Extreme Lying Down

An extreme lying down game that is sweeping the nation has landed at Aerial Extreme.

lying-down-1

The bizarre Lying Down Game has taken online social networking site, Facebook by storm in recent weeks, with users uploading progressively wacky photographs of people lying down in extreme locations such as jumbo jet engines, train stations, ticket machines and roof tops.

And now, staff and customers at Aerial Extreme’s outdoor adventure ropes course in Trentham have taken the game to new limits by balancing up to 14m in the air on suspended rope bridges.

Site Manager Alex Dick said: “We were a bit baffled when more and more of our customers started taking unusual photos of each other lying down on their fronts but a bit of online research soon revealed what they were up too – and now we’ve been joining in on the fun!”

According to some, there are strict rules to the Lying Down Game that must be adhered: the lying down must be as public as possible; palms must be flat against your sides and toes must point at the ground – as if standing up.

Management at the site have uploaded their staff pictures on to the Aerial Extreme Facebook Page -search for Aerial Extreme on Facebook for more information. Instructors have informed all that they are fully harnessed and safe at all times.

Aerial Fundraising

A mother and daughter duo recently faced their fears at Aerial Extreme in Bedale to raise money for The Foundation for the Study of Infant Death (FSID).

Nola Gutteridge, friend Amy and mum Sandra Gutteridge tackled the course’s cargo nets, climbing walls and zip lines in memory of Nola’s late daughter Aimee-Leigh Gutteridge, who passed away last year as a result of cot death.

The trio, who dressed up in pink tutus and legwarmers for their visit, collected sponsorship money and raised over £200 for the FSID.

The Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths is the UK’s leading baby charity aiming to prevent unexpected deaths in infancy and promote infant health.

Holly Butcher, Head of Fundraising at FSID, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Sandra and Nola for supporting FSID in such a daring and creative way.

“Without the hard work and help of people like them we would not be able to fund vital research into cot death and support bereaved parents in the UK.”

On Wednesday (29th July) the team tackled Aerial Extreme’s zip lines, wobbly bridges and climbing walls in anticipation of the first day of the season. The outdoor adventure ropes course became a training ground for two hours as the squad warmed up for their first game against Oxford United on Saturday 8th August.

Site Manager, Kate Hewson, said: “York City FC were great fun and really seemed to enjoy themselves at Aerial Extreme. Our course is very popular with sports teams wanting to improve fitness and build on their teamwork. It’s certainly a fun alternative to gruelling circuits, and provides a great opportunity for team building.”

Free Father’s Day Present!

Aerial Extreme is giving away something everyone can give their dad this Father’s Day…a session on their course absolutely free!

In March, mums enjoyed complimentary sessions on the outdoor ropes course as a special Mother’s Day treat but this year they’re not having all the fun –because Aerial Extreme is extending the offers to the dads!

So, if you fancy challenging your dad to take on the suspended obstacle course, this offer is just what you need – and remember, the whole family can join in too. As long as you reach 1.1m in height, the course is designed for all ages from kids to parents to granny and grandpa – and it’s fantastically safe too.

“When we ran this offer for mums earlier in the year, we received great feedback from families that enjoyed a slightly unconventional and very fun Mother’s Day – so why not give dad a Father’s Day to remember too?!”

Aerial Extreme is now open seven days a week for the summer season.

To redeem a free session at Aerial Extreme on Sunday 21st June, either the son or the daughter must book a time slot and attend with you – whether a participant or spectator.Call 0845 652 1736 or email info@aerialextreme.co.uk.

Gladiators… Ready!

Aerial Extreme is launching a campaign to find the country’s best ‘Gladiators’ to take part in a gruelling inter-county Gladiator challenge this summer.

At each of our four sites across the UK, four local regions will come together in a battle of the fittest and fastest and take part in the ultimate ‘Clash of the Titans.’ Aerial Extreme’s Annual Summer Sizzler featuring The Gladiator Challenge’ consists of a day for the family that will include a free BBQ and kids entertainment that will finish with the Gladiator Challenge at 5pm.

“This is a competition for people of all ages and abilities; often the fastest or most nimble contestants are the youngest so we want to encourage everyone to enter,” said Managing Director, Sinan Osman. “The entire day will be a big thank you to our customers and the chance to meet new faces, plus lots of fun!”

The Gladiator Challenge will consist of all 20 contenders jumping from the 40ft freefall jump with a container of water. The 10 with the most amount of water in the container when they reach the bottom will go through to the next challenge – the time trial. All 10 will have to complete challenges, hindered by the course’s very own Gladiators. The top three will then go through to the grand final– the eliminator, where they will be pursued by a Gladiator. The contestant who lasts the longest will be the ultimate winner!

If you think you’ve got what it takes to represent any of your local towns, you can enter by emailing your:

Powerfan Plunge puts Knowsley in the Record Books

A team of daring adrenaline junkies in Knowsley leaped in to the Guinness Book of World Records and raised money for the Merseyside Youth Challenge Trust on Monday (20th April).

Ten volunteers including a member of the public, Aerial Extreme staff, charity staff and a local journalist hurled themselves down the course’s 14 metre Powerfan in a jumping marathon for eight hours, in the hope of setting a new Guinness World Record for the ‘Longest Accumulative Powerfan Jump.’

The team smashed the minimum requirement of accumulating 2km by clocking up a respectable 4.485km – the equivalent of 345 jumps off the Powerfan – over double the minimum requirement.

Aerial Extreme came up with this fearless feat to help the Merseyside Youth Challenge Trust, which supports young and often disadvantaged people wanting to get involved in outdoor adventure training. Their outdoors activity centre allowed for 3,469 children to attend their sessions in 2007, but the trusts lack of funding has resulted in them having to turn away groups of children.

Each team member jumped over 30 times off the Powerfan.

Knowsley’s site manager, Becky Allen, said: “We had a fantastic time attempting to break the world record – although it certainly wasn’t a breeze! The whole team worked really hard, and we would like to thank everyone who took part on the day or donated money towards such a good cause.”

So far, the course has raised £200 for the Merseyside Youth Challenge but this total is set to rise.

The jaw dropping Powerfan plunge at Aerial Extreme is the final obstacle at the UK’s largest adventure rope course of its kind. The site, set in Knowsley Safari Park, boasts 60 fun packed obstacles including zip wires, crash cargo nets, balance beams and wobbly rope bridges.

The record attempt was thoroughly documented, videoed and photographed, and witness statements have been submitted to enable Guinness World Records to officially verify the evidence.

Extreme Easter Fundraising!

p4120050

Aerial Extreme in Trentham hosted the region’s highest Easter Egg Hunt this season, whilst also collecting over £350 for local charity, the Donna Louise Trust.

Site instructor Anja kitted herself out as a giant Aerial Extreme Easter bunny and hopped around Trentham Estate collecting donations. In the afternoon, she took to the course and attempted the biggest rabbit hop imaginable…down the Aerial Extreme 14m Powerfan!

The outdoor adventure ropes course offered a unique and fun way to spend the Easter weekend as customers grabbed for eggs while jumping between wobbly platforms, scrambling up nets and nipping down zip lines.

Sit e Manager Alex Dick said: “We’ve had great fun this Easter – our customers seemed to enjoy the extra challenge of looking for Easter Eggs while trying to balance on the course! At the same time, we are thrilled to have raised so much for Donna Louise and would like to thank everyone who supported us.”
